Place2Be is the leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support and expert professional development to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff.
Place2Be provides children’s mental health services in over 280 primary and secondary schools, and last year provided in-depth training in a further 31 schools, reaching a total school population of over 135,000 pupils
Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through counselling, creative work and play and support a child’s ability to engage in school life. Our work, focused on early intervention, is part of the ‘comprehensive CAMHS system’.
Through our professional development programme, we are training c1200 counsellors’ on placement each year who build their mental health and counselling skills and experience through practice in our partner schools. We also provide a range of professional development programmes on mental health and wellbeing for school leaders, teachers and other professionals who work with children and young people, so we can help to build ‘mentally healthy’ schools and communities where all children can thrive and flourish.

Place2Be is seeking to recruit a highly skilled Service Manager for this one day a week post who will be instrumental in managing and developing service delivery, an effective ambassador for the mental health needs of young people and someone with a proven record of stakeholder engagement. The post holder will have the ability to lead and supervise therapeutically trained staff to deliver a ‘whole school approach’ to mental health working in conjunction with school leadership teams.
Enabling and facilitating the culture whilst supporting the development of the ‘holistic approach’ and applying systems and services recently established to both promote positive mental health as well as identify mental health issues and intervene early on in the life of a problem before it becomes entrenched. Working closely with, and developing further, partnerships with external services such as CAMHS and other agencies providing services within partnership schools.
For this one-day post, the post holder will work across three projects in the Langley Schools Trust - The Langley Academy; The Langley Academy Primary, and Parlaunt Park Primary Academy: all in Langley, Berkshire - and will provide managerial and clinical supervision directly to School Project Managers. Leading on the collaboration with the Trust leaders and the Head Teachers in each of the schools, the Service Manager will also deliver training which may include Mental Health Champions as well as twilight and INSET training for staff teams.
The post holder will be instrumental in forging and sustaining positive professional working relationships with the leaders and staff in the Trust and well as securing the effective embedding of these new projects in the schools.
